The other day, [livejournal.com profile] welcomerain linked to a transcript of Jon Stewart on the O'Reilly Factor. Bill O'Reilly harshed on the Daily Show's audience continuously, although Jon Stewart worked to not let it take over the entire interview.

This week, Comedy Central rose to the call with a defense of the Daily Show audience. The CNN article says:
So they did a little research. And guess whose audience is more educated? Viewers of Jon Stewart's show are more likely to have completed four years of college than people who watch "The O'Reilly Factor," according to Nielsen Media Research.

Telling me I'm smarter than an O'Reilly fan is kind of like saying I'm smarter than a bag full of hammers.

Given how often Stewart refers to the audience as stoners looking to see "Half Baked" (with Jon Stewart!) himself, I think some sort of defense was necessary. You're right, it's not much, but they can't claim they're all Rhodes Scholars, either. (I bet most of us are sharper than a bag of tacks, too, if that helps.)

I don't think you were there at the wedding when Jack was saying, "You know, maybe I should get a Macintosh for my next computer, since you like 'em, and Rush Limbaugh likes 'em ..."
