CSA, july 4 - mmmm
Jul. 4th, 2009 12:48 pmHere's this week's haul from the CSA:

Either I'm getting used to the quantities, or it's not as intimidating because I have a better idea of what to do with things this week.
I really appreciate that they describe the vegetables in email, because I wouldn't know what these were otherwise!
Veggies: Chioggia Beets; Little Finger Carrots; Bronze Arrow Lettuce; Senposai (Collard Green/Komatsuna Hybrid); Happy Rich Broccolini; Genovese Basil; Sel de Prado Fennel; Zucchini.
Fruit: Bing cherries; sour cherries;blackberries black raspberries. (No strawberries, for the first time this summer)
The collard greens are the same type we had last week. It turns out they're *really* good ... when cooked with bacon, olive oil, garlic, onions, and chicken broth. And by "cooked with bacon", I mean you use *all* of the bacon grease that you'd normally throw away. Yum.
We did pretty well last week. We still have a couple of turnips, which we mostly ate raw, but we did a good job with the rest.
ETA: And thanks to the bike bags from
annaoj, I was able even able to wander around and buy more things, because I could carry more. Thanks!
