a quiet afternoon in Central Park
Aug. 14th, 2004 10:24 pmI finally dragged myself out to Central Park, for the first time this summer. I really wish I'd brought my camera. Rain seemed imminent, so I didn't, but that means I don't have pictures of the swing dancers on roller skates, who were great. I'm not sure what they were doing at the outdoor samba lesson, but they were fun to watch so no one cared.
Other highlights included dozens of people rowing about in the mini-lakes, a juggler who incanted "The Way of Happiness" while juggling a progression of acrylic balls, rods, and plastic hoops, and the worst version of "We Built This City" I've ever heard. That wasn't a highlight, exactly, but it was impressive.
Oh, and there were trees. Trees are nice. And there wasn't any rain after all.

Date: 2004-08-16 08:19 pm (UTC)I want to say that Central Park is sort of like Lincoln Park combined with a Rennaisance Faire, but that's only because I don't see that many families and people doing such goofy things on a regular basis anymore, and the lake shore is spread out so that it's harder to see them all in a short walk. I suppose there wouldn't have been tens of thousands of people waiting for a Nas concert here.
