Koko goes to the dentist

It sounds like a kid's story, but Koko, the gorilla who talks via ASL, went to the dentist recently after complaining about pain in her mouth. What impressed me in this story is that they gave Koko a 1-to-10 pain scale, and it was only when she was pointing to 9 and 10 repeatedly that they took her in. If this is really what was going on in her head as well as her handlers', that's pretty impressive.

Okay, I was also impressed by the fact that her article photo was the picture with the kitten from 1985. She must photograph as badly as I do!
