the things you have to say sometimes
Aug. 5th, 2004 12:13 pmI was talking to someone I work with about last night's Daily Show, with its amazing confluence of stories about both Davenport and Albuquerque. (Observation: if there's ever a news mention of Albuquerque, it's invariably bad.) In case you missed it, the Davenport mention was about how both Kerry and Bush were giving speeches in Davenport, Iowa, on the same day, at the same time!
reesei says that if it'd rained, they would've both even been in the same convention center!
(And Albuquerque was in the news for a story about people being forced to sign loyalty oaths before being allowed to see Cheney speak. The mind boggles. And rebels.)
Anyhow, Joanne asked if the thing about the bank robberies was true. Disturbingly enough, every bizarre story we've ever looked up after seeing it mentioned on the Daily Show has been true. So, sure enough, during the candidates speeches, there were three bank robberies in Davenport. And two more within 24 hours.
Why do I cite that? For the following line: Under Iowa law a toy gun is not considered a dangerous weapon.
Sometimes, you just have to say things like that, it seems.
