Somehow I got sucked into Deadprogrammer's Cafe tonight, a site I'd never seen, because he'd written something about the evolution of the Starbucks Siren into "something less naughty". Continuing on, I found it's a blog full of nice photography, New York weirdness, coffee, computers, and Russian nostalgia. I'm hooked. 23 pages (and an hour and a half without dinner) later, I came across one of my favorite topics: the ubiquitous nitrogen tanks that lurk on the street corners. After seeing the MIB2 explanation, I keep expecting Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to pop out of one of them, but no luck. I think I need to be in the Village for that.

Anyway. This adds nicely to the "prevent fires" angle that [livejournal.com profile] reesei and I had pieced together, and does it while mentioning nuclear hobos and ice cream.

Update: Here's far more about mermaids (and Starbucks) than I'd ever expected to know. I even believe some of it.
