I haven't been really politically active in the past. I voted, I occasionally gave money, but I didn't go on letter writing campaigns, and I certainly didn't go out and actually talk to people. But I lived in Chicago for 14 years, and then I moved to New York for a year and a half, and both places were relatively "safe" for me.
Then we moved to Ohio.
I knew I would have to start doing a little more.
reesei and I have both written email to varied Representatives and Senators on a couple issues. And so far, the responses have been grim. Here's the full text of a letter I got back from Rep. Deborah Pryce, on the subjec of NSA wiretapping. I won't MST3K it, because many of y'all can do it better than I will, but I do need to respond.
( letter about NSA )
What I would like most is to actually have a face-to-face talk with the person who wrote what's undoubtedly a form letter. That's highly unlikely, even given this whole proportional-representation thing, but I'm sure even hand-written (typed) letters are largely ignored.
