more spam tidbits from gmail
Feb. 3rd, 2006 11:11 amEarlier, I posted a screenshot with gmail's useful suggestions on spam tidbits. Gmail's little tidbits based on the currently displayed message are normally OK, if not useful, but on the spam mailbox screen, especially when there's no spam, there's not a lot for it to go on.
(Oooh, if I actually had spam in there, that could get pretty bad. Hopefully they have a content filter.)
So, anyway,
jnala commented saying that he hated looking at the spam box for this reason. I'd never noticed it before, but thought the "spam fajitas for 8!" recipe was pretty amusing. But now that I've seen it, I have to agree it's pretty annoying, since I've also been offered the following tasty links:
Maybe this is what "beta" means. I'll write in with a bug report.
Update:
m00nglum pointed out that it's clearly intentional on Google's part, and there's even a special snippet category of "Spam Recipe". Oddly, that makes it all better again. (Although I'm not any more likely to follow the recipe links than I was before.)
