software update advice

Mac or PC, it's always worth waiting to make sure the update is good unless you have a particular urgent problem. Or, as someone on /. says about the recent OS X security fix:
Those who follow the rules -- wait a few days to install Apple's updates [...] -- will be unaffected.

Jen, I think we need the SciFi channel this year, for "THE MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN" and "ALIEN APOCALYPSE". (And Earthsea and Ringworld too, I guess.)
